" Ugly Betty "

Do you know that American series “Ugly Betty” ? I watch that show whenever I get the chance because I like America Ferrera who plays the lead role, Betty Suarez. I admire her , she’s gutsy though naive, kind hearted but smart, funny and trustworthy. People at the office make fun of her because of her looks. But she’s more than just a ‘pretty face.’

Excerpt from Ugly Betty. If this is new to you, I suggest you get your DVD copies per season..and Enjoy it!

In the superficial world of high fashion, image is everything. Styles come and go, and the only constants are the super thin beauties who wear them. How can an ordinary girl from Queens possibly fit in?

If you took a moment to get to know Betty Suarez, you’d see how sweet, intelligent and hard-working she is (if a bit fashion-challenged). When publishing mogul Bradford Meade handed the reigns of Mode, the bible of the fashion industry, over to this son, Daniel, he specifically hired Betty as his son’s new assistant mostly because she was the only woman Daniel wouldn’t sleep with. Both outsiders in their own way, Daniel and Betty form an unlikely team, each helping the other navigate the choppy waters of NYC’s fashion scene.

Everyone predicted Betty would fail. Instead, she thrived in the ultra-competitive environment. But now she faces new challenges. Diva fashionista Wilhelmina Slater, fed up with trying to earn the editor job, has devised a new strategy she’s engaged to marry Bradford and hopes to wrest control of the magazine that way. Will Daniel (and Betty) be able to retain their places at Mode if Willie becomes step-mommy dearest? Meanwhile, Wilhelmina (with loyal assistant Marc St. James) is planning the wedding of the millennium who knows who’ll turn up when she takes a walk down the aisle?

You might ask why I placed a picture of my pug Charlie up there, because like Betty in the series, he is really beautiful!

Thank You!

Good friends are hard to come by. What’s more GOOD friends you haven’t met face to face but only talk to on the phone or chat with online. I say good friends, you might ask? My heart tells me so.

I am quite fortunate to meet a number of people I met online whom I consider real good friends. We phone each other, spend time chatting to learn about one another, and even share our deep thoughts. In the beginning when I first went online, I never thought finding friends to trust via internet was possible. I was proven wrong. Some aren’t to be trusted, but once you find the good ones.. you must keep them!

This is a short note to show my appreciation to ROSE, a wonderful friend who is always there for me. No let me rephrase that. A sister who’s always there for me. Rose has got such a big heart that people tend to misuse her. Especially her talent of web designing. I have been her avid fan since 2004 right after I saw her portfolio, her creativeness in designing is awesome! Self taught and yet you will be amazed of her achievement as designing has brought in clients who pay good money for her services.

Rose is also an awesome photographer! Check out her work when you find the time, folks. I can go on and on about her but she’s really shy and easily embarrassed, now we don’t want her cheeks to turn red, do we? *lol*

Rose, thank you so much for the friendship. And tolerating me at times, ha ha ha! And not to forget, thank you for this awesome new layout…you rock, babe!!

Weekend Snapshot # 5

It’s gray and wet outside, photographing without the sun that provides me normal lighting is what I miss. After posting a lucky shot on my other blog (another WS entry) I opted to shoot the next indoor.

A commenter (mr. dodong flores) left me this comment on my October 13 entry titled “Red Bull”

It’s interesting to know that you still able to bring with you your telephoto lens even if you’re just biking. How did you do that? Are you biking with a big camera bag at the back? Just curious. For me, it’s not that convenient to change lens from wide angle to telephoto especially in your condition that your bike.
Anyways, your effort of changing lens paid off. YOu’ve got one of the most interesting photos out there… Depth-of-field is just superb!

Well, this is the backpack that I usually carry. Quite convenient and safe for my camera and lenses. And no, I am not a professional photographer, far from it. I just love this hobby.

Lullaby baby

We tend to spoil our pets because we love them right? My husband and I do. Not only we spoil our two ferrets by giving them the best quality of life we can offer, but we tend to spoil our pug Charlie the most. We often get lost in those huge eyes of his and licks/kisses he showers us every chance he gets.

I for one always want Charlie to sit on my lap in the car because I like the feeling of snuggling with him. I love watching him getting excited with every car or motorbike that pass by. Particularly he’s interested in big trucks and bridges! But I never allow him to stick his head out in the window to enjoy the ride. That’s simply forbidden. With eyes like his, the hard wind blowing could easily damage his sclera, eventually his cornea… and because pugs are known to have sensitive eyes. In the past he had a terrible eye problem caused by a plant rubbing his sclera, this almost cost him his eyesight. Fortunately, because of my experience with some eye problems ( I still remember some of them from school, I was also an ex optometrist) I was able to detect the abnormality. Hence we took him to the animal doctor and he’s got his medications and constant hospital trips until he was well.

Well, back to car ride, this is one of my favorite photos of Charlie in the car. He fell asleep wearing my shawl while the music was in full blast! Look at that tiny tongue, ha ha ha!

Carnival Queen and more!

Yearly, a summer carnival is held in Rotterdam where thousands of people occupy the streets to catch a glimpse of the year’s chosen queen.

This was she. Poseidon’s (see Oct. 31st entry) daughter.

It was also my opportunity to use my (then) newly purchased 3rd party lens, a tamron 70mm-300mm. I really was a Point & Shoot hobbyist, but since I bought the Canon 350D, I enjoy this hobby more.
