Thank you…and please come again! (LP 86)

Upang ipaalam ang ating pasasalamat, maraming paraan ang ating ginagawa. We shake people’s hands. We send gifts. We say ‘thank you’ . May naiiyak pa nga habang nagpapasalamat kasi sobrang saya nya, di ba? May mga restaurants na namimigay ng mga trinkets sa kanilang mga clients. May malalaking kumpanya na nagbibigay ng bonus sa kanilang mga manggagawa. May mga tindahan naman na namimigay ng goodies sa kanilang mga suki. Kagaya ng litrato (recycled) sa itaas. Isang grocery na malapit sa amin at laging tinatakbuhan ko para sa supplies , ganyan ang ibinibigay taon-taon!
Pero hmmm, kung iisipin ko hindi naman talagang 100% na pasasalamat eh, kundi marketing strategy pa rin. Kasi kailangang mag-ipon ka ng 50 stickers (worth €10 of gorcery, you get a sticker) para maka-avail ka ng ‘free box’ . So 50 x €10=? LIBRE NGA BA? PASASALAMAT NGA BA?
Hay naku, basta ako, NAGPAPASALAMAT SA INYONG WALANG SAWANG PAGDALAW SA AKING ABANG BLOG. NAGPAPASALAMAT DIN AKO NG DAHIL SA LITRATONG PINOY KAHIT PAANO AY NAKAKILALA AKO NG MABABAIT NA TAO.

Spiced red cabbage

A side dish I made on Christmas eve dinner-for-two. It was my very first time to make it and if you just allow me to say it, it was good. “Erg lekker! echt nederlandse rodekool! je mag hetI shall be vaak koken, lieverd” ( really good! this is a real dutch red cabbage! you should make this often, sweetheart – my husband.)
Well I’ll be posting the recipe on my foodblog soon.. only I am trying to fill the ‘Food’ category on this blog (lost almost all of them due to my ex-webhost .)

Regalo sa araw-araw (LP 85)

Ang maimulat ko ang aking mga mata sa umaga, humihinga, nasa piling ng mahal ko sa buhay ay ang mga bagay na pinasasalamatan ko sa Panginoon sa araw-araw. Regalong buhay. At mabuhay ng mapayapa. Para sa akin ay karapat-dapat lang na magbigay papuri sa Kanya.
At ang higit sa lahat, ang pinakaimportanteng regalong natanggap ko ay ang Anak na si Jesus na ibinuwis alang-alang sa isang makasalanan na tulad ko.
Ang makita ng aking mga mata ang ganitong kagandang likha ng Panginoon…wow! regalong super! Isa pang magandang regalo ay ‘birthday’ ko sa darating na pasko, sa araw na ito noong 1994 ako ay na-water-baptized.

Got bread?

Every winter I make sure that any stale bread we have in the house will not go to waste but be given to ducks, pigeons, and water-chicken. Food source is a scarcity for these poor birds during this season luckilyand , there are people who care enough to bring them bread- from those old ladies and men I learned to do this.
It’s actually fun feeding them. From a distance they can see you coming. Tentatively they will advance a bit towards where you’re standing… looking, feeling and waiting for the next thing that’s going to happen. If they see you take out a bag (no matter what’s in it) they will race like mad to get to you! Well, they couldn’t ‘race’ to me this morning because of the thick snow but nevertheless they got their pieces of bread from me. It was also a fantastic photo opportunity for me!
Pasko Ko, Pinoy. (LP 84)

Maraming Pinoy na naninirahan sa labas ng Pilipinas ang magsasabing “ iba pa rin ang Pasko sa Pilipinas. ” Kaya naman maraming tulad kong nandito sa Europa ay nagnanais na makauwi sa ating bansa sa panahong ito ng Disyembre upang makasama ang mga mahal sa buhay ngayong kapaskuhan.
Ilang taon na ring hindi ko nakakasama ang mga magulang, kapatid at buong pamilya ko tuwing pasko. Nakapag adjust na rin naman ako pero hindi maiiwasan na medyo may kalungkutan ang aming pasko dahil napakaliit ng pamilya ng aking mister. Huling pasko (2008) ay nakasama pa namin ang kanyang ama pero sa taong ito ay hindi na dahil nasa nursing home na sya. Kaya kaming 2 lamang ng mister ko ang magsasalo ..malamang mula sa paskong ito.

Naghahangad ba akong “sana ay nakasakay na ako sa eroplanong papauwi sa Pilipinas para makapag-pasko doon!“? OO at hindi.
OO dahil syempre naman ay gusto kong makasama ang mga magulang ko. HINDI dahil hindi ko pababayaang mag-isa ang mister ko ngayong pasko. Sa hirap o ginhawa, lungkot at saya – iyan ang sinumpaan ko ng kami ay ikasal.
Ito ang kakaibang mukha ng pasko ng isang Pinoy. Pasko ko. Pinoy style, sa labas ng bansa.

Big chunk was lost!

May 2008 – November 2009.
All posts within the mentioned months were all gone!
The cause? My former webhost that was ALWAYS down! That saving my wordpress files (3 blogs, I was lucky to save but 1-complete file) became impossible because each time I would try to download files, I’d be cut off by the service. The database? Hah! I am not a newbie when it comes to working on database so when I was about to download all 3 blogs databases and found them empty, yeah, I was as dumbfounded as you (who understand database.)Anger wont do me any good anymore. Acceptance, I’m getting there. SHIT HAPPENS and that’s the hard fact.
But I am still waiting for this former webhost to refund my money. You see when I bought a hosting package from them last year, they had (still does) this strange looking control panel where subdomains files are placed together with the main. I was not used to such mess so I asked their costumer service how to go about it because I need to establish subdomains. The guy offered to do it for an additional fee. Later on I found out from his boss that I was not suppose to pay for that service. The money wasn’t refunded though..so I am asking for them to refund it back.

Website owners, have you seen something like this before? I have worked with German, Dutch and American webhosts in the past but this control panel of this ex-webhost is something else!
Well, I have been patient with this webhost for the longest time! Not to mention the frustrations and headaches, gosh! Monthsssss of sending tickets whenever my 3 blogs were down! Would you believe if I tell you that I would send tickets many times a week, at times even on a daily?!
Asking for them to refund my money back has been a headache as well. I have not disclosed YET the name of this webhost BUT I WILL and MY BLOGGER FRIENDS are ready to write about this host’s horrible service if they continue to ignore my emails and delay my money transfer. This isn’t a promise.
I will do it.
