Retired? (008)
Jan 8th
Begin of October last year, I bought my dream camera (Canon 5DM2) and I couldn’t be happier! Before that I was using my very first dslr (Canon EOS 350D) as back-up and Canon EOS 40D as my main, which I usually carry around. But now with Canon 5DM2 , is 40D retiring?
Not at all!!
But Canon EOS350D is retiring though. Or rather it has been promised to my one and only brother, also its kitlens and zoomlens. I’m just happy that my sibling has interest in photography because otherwise I’ll just sell it secondhand. I’m happier that a family member will enjoy it.

Green (007)
Jan 7th

Outside it’s cold, slippery, ground is white- sky is gray, wet, and did I say it’s cold already? I have just about enough of this bone chilling winter we’re having right now. My body isn’t really built for this temperature. Thick jackets help. But it isn’t fun walking like the Michelin man around, buh!
Almost all trees are of course bald now, I miss the greens……
Gusto ko ng makapal!! (LP 87)
Jan 6th
Ganito!

Bike On Ice (006)
Jan 6th
During a walk, I spot this lone bike a bit embedded on ice. Seeing bikes in waters around here is ‘normal’. Bikes like what you see on the photo, usually are stolen and nonchalantly tossed in the water by thieves when no longer needed. Yearly, hundreds of them are fished out and destroyed.
I’ll be pissed if my bike get stolen! *knock on wood*
Well deserved birthday! (005)
Jan 5th
He is my father in law. His name is Joop.
Our small family of three (my husband, dad- in-law and I) celebrated his 85th birthday yesterday. And it was a big deal! Not only that it’s a ripe ripe age to celebrate but a year ago we thought he’d never make it to his next birthday, but he did!
He has been through a lot: cancer, loss of his (ex) wife, operated hip, operated eye, no longer can walk, memory slowly leaving his body, muscular pains and a lot more. But he is still with us, thanks to his strong heart ‘he’s got a heart comparable to a young man‘ according to a specialist and his will to continue. Yeah, he fights. He fights hard. But he also had moments when he wanted to give up.
My dad in law. 85.
Proud to present him on my blog!

Morning Moon (004)
Jan 4th
* click for a larger image *
I was hoping to photograph the moon (or blue moon if I was lucky) on New Year’s eve but our skies were just too gray, heavy with snow clouds.
This morning though still very dark outside, I had a glimpse of this shining moon between 7:30-7:45 am. I immediately took out my ‘moon camera‘ [ Canon S5IS which I love to shoot the moon with
] but did not step out of the house (man, it’s chilly outside and still in my pjs!) …so with a window glass between me and the moon, I captured it.
The image was just resized and watermarked, no other editing done.
Also it’s day 4 of Project 2010…hey! not only that I’m keeping up but quite early today!
Us, having breakfast? (003)
Jan 3rd
Breakfast is pretty much unheard of in this small family of mine. My husband’s idea of a good hearty meal is dinner time! Yep, both my husband and I are two bloated whales because of this practise. I have tried to convince him to eat breakfast but noooo, he’s just not the type. Would you believe if I tell you that we sit down for breakfast such as this usually on the 2nd day of each new year?! But since we had too much to eat on the eve of Jan. 1 , we had to skip Jan. 2nd breakfast. But this morning it happened, lol! Oh yeah, we also sit down for breakfast during vacations! I don’t know why but that’s the only time you’ll see my husband eating breakfast. What about me? Now I’m just like him, I skip breakfast because it’s just not fun eating alone.
On other note, I am going to attempt to upload at least a-photo-day and file them under ‘Project 2010′ . It’s the 3rd day so…wish me luck! I hope to make it on the last day of 2010!
The Vatican City (002)
Jan 2nd
December 11, 2009 was the day. I finally got the chance to see this place. ‘Indrukwekkend!’ (Impressive!) once you reach the top of St. Peter’s Basilica and get a full view of the smallest country in the world both by population and area.
The name “Vatican” is ancient and predates Christianity, coming from the Latin Mons Vaticanus, meaning Vatican Mount. The territory of Vatican City is part of the Mons Vaticanus, and of the adjacent former Vatican Fields where St. Peter’s Basilica, the Apostolic Palace, the Sistine Chapel, and museums were built, along with various other buildings. The area was part of the Roman rione of Borgo until 1929. Being separated from the city, on the west bank of the Tiber river, the area was an outcrop of the city that was protected by being included within the walls of Leo IV, and later expanded by the current fortification walls of Paul III/Pius IV/Urban VIII. When the Lateran Treaty of 1929 that gave the state its present form was being prepared, the boundaries of the proposed territory were influenced by the fact that much of it was all but enclosed by this loop. For some tracts of the frontier, there was no wall, but the line of certain buildings supplied part of the boundary, and for a small part of the frontier a modern wall was constructed. The territory includes St. Peter’s Square, distinguished from the territory of Italy only by a white line along the limit of the square, where it touches Piazza Pio XII. St. Peter’s Square is reached through the Via della Conciliazione which runs from the Tiber River to St. Peter’s. This grand approach was constructed by Benito Mussolini after the conclusion of the Lateran Treaty.
