It’s strawberry season, yes!

Smart consumers and strawberry lovers (like myself) buy them when in season. Otherwise you will get hard, sour or even lacking in taste fruit if you buy them too soon or too late. Now, now is the time to buy them around here and this batch was my 3rd purchase for the past 3 weeks. A pound was bought for my father-in-law who also loves this fruit. But before he could get his hands on them, I thought of an idea…..

I have always liked, even marvelled at beautifully photographed fruits, especially strawberries. Sweet and healthy strawberries (imo) has this firey red glossy skin that makes it attractive and oh so mouth watering (top it with whipped cream, oh man!) But I seldom see them photographed in the dark. And I wanted (or attempted) to create that before giving these strawberries to the owner.

I used light as little as possible. Single light was faced against a wall and let it bounce all over my tiny studio (note to self: small room is ideal for product shots such as this) and I am pretty excited of the outcome. I was able to get that minimum light reflection that I was hoping to create. Of course it took me a lot of shots before I could choose this one that spoke to me the most. It was worth the backaches.

Have a great week ahead of you!
