Mean Ice man! (010)
Jan 10th
There’s just too much snow outside so finding snowmen was easy. This one was standing a few meters away from our house.
I find it quite ‘mean’ looking and just the ugliest snowman I’ve seen, ever!
Funny thing was, on its hat says ‘tes’ (that’s how my name is spelled in Dutch.) Did the creator had me in mind while he was molding this?
Nah….TES is an electronic company in Holland.

Winter…no sign of letting up! (009)
Jan 9th
Winter in this part of Europe is showing no sign of letting up! Instead I think it’s here to stay for quite a while!
Seldom do we get a white Christmas in The Netherlands, but days before Christmas last year, it was white all over so yeah, it was nice. * No need to dream of white Christmas for most of us* BUT it’s still white outside – it’s already the 9th of January!…and temperature is extra cold! brrrrrrrr
So instead of our usual family day in the neighboring city, we’re at home staying warm…and safe. No need to take any risk of getting stuck in sticky situations in this temperature.

Retired? (008)
Jan 8th
Begin of October last year, I bought my dream camera (Canon 5DM2) and I couldn’t be happier! Before that I was using my very first dslr (Canon EOS 350D) as back-up and Canon EOS 40D as my main, which I usually carry around. But now with Canon 5DM2 , is 40D retiring?
Not at all!!
But Canon EOS350D is retiring though. Or rather it has been promised to my one and only brother, also its kitlens and zoomlens. I’m just happy that my sibling has interest in photography because otherwise I’ll just sell it secondhand. I’m happier that a family member will enjoy it.

Green (007)
Jan 7th

Outside it’s cold, slippery, ground is white- sky is gray, wet, and did I say it’s cold already? I have just about enough of this bone chilling winter we’re having right now. My body isn’t really built for this temperature. Thick jackets help. But it isn’t fun walking like the Michelin man around, buh!
Almost all trees are of course bald now, I miss the greens……
Gusto ko ng makapal!! (LP 87)
Jan 6th
Ganito!

Bike On Ice (006)
Jan 6th
During a walk, I spot this lone bike a bit embedded on ice. Seeing bikes in waters around here is ‘normal’. Bikes like what you see on the photo, usually are stolen and nonchalantly tossed in the water by thieves when no longer needed. Yearly, hundreds of them are fished out and destroyed.
I’ll be pissed if my bike get stolen! *knock on wood*
Well deserved birthday! (005)
Jan 5th
He is my father in law. His name is Joop.
Our small family of three (my husband, dad- in-law and I) celebrated his 85th birthday yesterday. And it was a big deal! Not only that it’s a ripe ripe age to celebrate but a year ago we thought he’d never make it to his next birthday, but he did!
He has been through a lot: cancer, loss of his (ex) wife, operated hip, operated eye, no longer can walk, memory slowly leaving his body, muscular pains and a lot more. But he is still with us, thanks to his strong heart ‘he’s got a heart comparable to a young man‘ according to a specialist and his will to continue. Yeah, he fights. He fights hard. But he also had moments when he wanted to give up.
My dad in law. 85.
Proud to present him on my blog!

Morning Moon (004)
Jan 4th
* click for a larger image *
I was hoping to photograph the moon (or blue moon if I was lucky) on New Year’s eve but our skies were just too gray, heavy with snow clouds.
This morning though still very dark outside, I had a glimpse of this shining moon between 7:30-7:45 am. I immediately took out my ‘moon camera‘ [ Canon S5IS which I love to shoot the moon with
] but did not step out of the house (man, it’s chilly outside and still in my pjs!) …so with a window glass between me and the moon, I captured it.
The image was just resized and watermarked, no other editing done.
Also it’s day 4 of Project 2010…hey! not only that I’m keeping up but quite early today!
