My irregular blogposting has been brought about by sad events surrounding my family, both my own and in-law’s. Eleven months since my father’s death (last year) was followed by the death of an uncle, whom my siblings and I were close to, and also the passing of my father-in-law almost 3 months ago, who stood as my father for the past eleven years. Yes he stood as my father since I migrated from my own country (Philippines) to here (The Netherlands) when I married his son. So it has been a ‘dark’ year for me, my family and husband.

But we need to go on, I have to go on. Perhaps the pain gets less but we’ll never forget. Memories will linger for as long as our own time comes.

And then new lives sprung. We celebrated the birth of my cute little niece in June! Birthdays of nieces and nephews happened and so was mine 13 days ago.

I celebrated it the quiet way. On my birthday itself I chose to do nothing. No cooking. No visitors. No celebration. Just peace and quiet. I loved it!

The day after we had a small dinner with a couple of friends, dinner was prepared by me. Perhaps it’s rather childish but instead of having a post birthday cake, I made us adults some cake pops (see recipe here) I thought of sharing a photo because I was proud that I was able to make it since I don’t really bake a lot.

Well, I’m keeping it short. I guess I just wanted to let you know (all 2 readers of mine ;) ) the reason why I was ‘quiet’.
People come and go, that’s a fact. But life has to go on for the living and left behind.
So it’s time to make some noise now, don’t you think so?
