Sasha

My pug Charlie is a very friendly dog. When he’s out walking, he greets everyone..I mean everyone! with enthusiasm and excitement. Though some dogs, small dogs like him do not like his friendly attitude, most of the time they growl at him to scare him away. But one doggy in the hood always remain friendly to Charlie. That’s Sasha.

This is Sasha. I find Sasha such a gentle and friendly dog. She would always welcome my pug’s excited paws (jumping on top of her) with gentle sniffles and never would growl.

Only Sasha lives with another small dog that has an ‘issue’ with my pug, that at times, Sasha has to choose which one she plays with. Which one do you think she chooses?

” Ugly Betty “

Do you know that American series “Ugly Betty” ? I watch that show whenever I get the chance because I like America Ferrera who plays the lead role, Betty Suarez. I admire her , she’s gutsy though naive, kind hearted but smart, funny and trustworthy. People at the office make fun of her because of her looks. But she’s more than just a ‘pretty face.’

Excerpt from Ugly Betty. If this is new to you, I suggest you get your DVD copies per season..and Enjoy it!

In the superficial world of high fashion, image is everything. Styles come and go, and the only constants are the super thin beauties who wear them. How can an ordinary girl from Queens possibly fit in?

If you took a moment to get to know Betty Suarez, you’d see how sweet, intelligent and hard-working she is (if a bit fashion-challenged). When publishing mogul Bradford Meade handed the reigns of Mode, the bible of the fashion industry, over to this son, Daniel, he specifically hired Betty as his son’s new assistant mostly because she was the only woman Daniel wouldn’t sleep with. Both outsiders in their own way, Daniel and Betty form an unlikely team, each helping the other navigate the choppy waters of NYC’s fashion scene.

Everyone predicted Betty would fail. Instead, she thrived in the ultra-competitive environment. But now she faces new challenges. Diva fashionista Wilhelmina Slater, fed up with trying to earn the editor job, has devised a new strategy she’s engaged to marry Bradford and hopes to wrest control of the magazine that way. Will Daniel (and Betty) be able to retain their places at Mode if Willie becomes step-mommy dearest? Meanwhile, Wilhelmina (with loyal assistant Marc St. James) is planning the wedding of the millennium who knows who’ll turn up when she takes a walk down the aisle?

You might ask why I placed a picture of my pug Charlie up there, because like Betty in the series, he is really beautiful!

Talk to me!

We had to bring Charlie our pug to the animal hospital this afternoon because he’s got an irritation on his belly’s skin, just around his navel, and both sides of his inner thigh. He always gets it each time the weather changes especially when it’s raining. The irritation causes his skin to turn black with red rashes surrounding it. He was given an antibiotic and creme which is to be applied 2x a day. I hope he gets better soon.

Anyway, while waiting for the vet to call us, we sat down in the waiting room together with other pet owners with their charges. I’m more of a dog person (obviously) but sometimes cats also get my attention, especially the not so arrogant ones.

Like this one that greeted us and given us attention. This beautiful red kept meowing and walking towards me. I found his ‘meow’ resembling a child’s voice. And it kept on talking and talking while I was taking it’s picture. Precious!

But how come when cats are fighting or trying to scare each other when being territorial, they give out this child-like sound?

Lullaby baby

We tend to spoil our pets because we love them right? My husband and I do. Not only we spoil our two ferrets by giving them the best quality of life we can offer, but we tend to spoil our pug Charlie the most. We often get lost in those huge eyes of his and licks/kisses he showers us every chance he gets.

I for one always want Charlie to sit on my lap in the car because I like the feeling of snuggling with him. I love watching him getting excited with every car or motorbike that pass by. Particularly he’s interested in big trucks and bridges! But I never allow him to stick his head out in the window to enjoy the ride. That’s simply forbidden. With eyes like his, the hard wind blowing could easily damage his sclera, eventually his cornea… and because pugs are known to have sensitive eyes. In the past he had a terrible eye problem caused by a plant rubbing his sclera, this almost cost him his eyesight. Fortunately, because of my experience with some eye problems ( I still remember some of them from school, I was also an ex optometrist) I was able to detect the abnormality. Hence we took him to the animal doctor and he’s got his medications and constant hospital trips until he was well.

Well, back to car ride, this is one of my favorite photos of Charlie in the car. He fell asleep wearing my shawl while the music was in full blast! Look at that tiny tongue, ha ha ha!
