I recently upgraded to Canon 40D…so am I happy with it?

I AM!

Because this camera captures this face so well! 6th day in my possession and I have shot just a few cos I don’t have the time to go crazy yet cos I’m busy but from the few photos that I took I can clearly see the image difference between this camera and my old one, Canon Rebel XT.

Canon 40D rocks!

Charlie da Pogi

Details a lot crispier, sharper ..just fantastic! These two images were only resized and nothing more. Usually when I take photos of Charlie (this cutie) editing was needed especially around his pupils which are always dilated. Can you imagine how happy this makes me? I finally found the camera that gives me better results.

I still need to learn the camera specs though because the jump is quite big between the old and new. In the beginning, I was a bit intimidated to upgrade to this camera because after all, I’m just an amateur shooter.

I think this amateur will write reviews about her cameras on future posts.

Have a great weekend, dear friends…and thank you for visiting. I will try my best to visit you back.

Have you seen those street whatchamacallthem, live statues? Those kinds that you have to pay a dollar, in our case, Euro so you can take their photos with you or a friend beside them. I don’t mind paying only if someone who would take my photo beside it, unfortunately I didn’t have that someone when I saw him (photo) . Armed with my zoom lens and was approx. 20+ meters away, I saw him with his back towards me and said to myself: “I don’t mind taking his rear profile” when suddenly he turned around like he felt my camera aimed at him, he caught me. I really felt guilty I tell you. Then he covered his face preventing me to photograph him more. I still continued clicking but on subjects beside him, he thought I was still aiming at him so he stood there with face covered for a good minute.

Street performers like him must really hate zoom lenses he he*

LifeLike, yes she is

Or so I feel.

I was never really a big fan of dolls, whether plastic or ceramic. Probably because I have this wild imagination since I was a kid and when playing with my siblings, we would use dolls to frighten each other, we sometimes would say: look, she’s looking at you everywhere you go, see, the eyes are alive..the doll is alive!! and well, we used those frightening voices too to terrify the wits out of each other! At times when the teasing became too much, we ended up in real cat fights! *lol*

But anyway back to dolls…when I saw this doll on top of my friend’s drawer, ’she’ changed my view of dolls. I don’t know why but there was something on her face that I find gentle, not scary at all. She doesn’t even fall under the ‘cute’ category , in my opinion..but there’s something about her.

What I find cute is the way she sits on top of the drawer.

Do you like dolls too? Do you also collect them?

December was the busiest month for me…it still is. I am just glad that December 25th & 26th { first Christmas day and second Christmas day respectively} are both over, whew! Because those two days were just killers. Though I really really enjoy preparing special dishes especially on Christmas (normally only the 25th) but was also invited this year to cook on the 26th…which was fine by me, glad to do it… it’s just that my body after the 2 nights almost gave up because I was beat and even asked myself why am I doing this to myself?

Well, answer is I don’t like ordering cooked meals for Christmas dinner! I like surprising my love ones with something new and never tasted before menu. But I’ll get to that on another post.

All I really wanted to say was that I enjoyed being a kid again. For a moment it was like I was back during those years when I could hardly wait for Santa’s surprise under the tree. Yes until now I enjoy opening gifts (who doesn’t?) and this year I got what I wished for from my husband (speakers for my room) and from my dear friend Stel (who is one of my inspirations when it comes to cooking) I got this fantastic cookbook “Your Place or Mine?”by Jean-Christophe Novelli, one of London’s celebrated Michelin starred chef .

Dear Stel, I was opening your gift on these pictures and I love it!! Thank you so much!!
