NY trip, when’s it gonna be?

I have two aunts living in the United States for many years. As well as college friends and people I met online, who eventually became good friends too. One of my aunts has been urging me to come and visit her, this has been going on for a few years now. My friends too! “When are you coming over, Thess?” , is the usual line I get on my message boxes and chat boxes.

I sure would want to visit everybody,  my feet are actually itching to travel. Who wouldn;t want to see your family? Who wouldn’t want to meet old college friends after 2 decades of not seeing each other? Who wouldn’t want to see faces of people you normally would only speak to online?

I would also love to see the whole of New York, one dream was to see the twin towers which we all know, remains just a dream, definitely. But there are so many places to visit in New York. Musical shows to see. Shopping to do. And I’ve been promised to be taken to a few Filipino and other Asian restaurants in the city. So yeah, the foodie in me can’t wait to go to the city that never sleeps. The question is, when is the right time to go?

Yesterday, if only possible. I would have booked me my plane ticket, hotel and even car service NYC! But unfortunately, packing my bags and go on a trip isn’t that easy. Financial wise. I am responsible not only for myself but for others too. Besides due to unfortunate circumstance, I had to make two trips back to Asia. Thus my plan to go to the United States was pushed back.

Anyway, I know someday I’ll be singing Liza Minelli’s ‘New York, New York’ the minute I land in NY!

Seek the one that fits you. Webhosting that is.

I would just like to make a follow up on my previous post (yesterday.  27-10-2011) about website hosting as I intend to give my friend another info (link) about his seeking of the best webhost there is offered on the internet. I did some browsing this morning and found this website.

Figuring out which web host is selling the truth, these days hosting reviews written by clients themselves help a lot those intending to buy domains. This I forgot to mention to my friend so since I know he’s reading my post, do not forget to check out this new links that I’m sharing with you. Also goes out for you folks who are planning on getting your own domain. Sure it’s easy buying but ask yourself if you’re ready to be confronted with problems e.g. downtime, upgrades etc  on your own or with your webhost?

I said it before and please allow me to say it again, many webhosts would sell you all beautiful promises but when the time comes you need them, they’re nowhere to be found to help you out. Thus reading reviews about webhosts is a great help. Clients share their experiences , no-holds-barred review. So what better way to know the truth about webhosts than reading it from their own clients, right?

My advice is try to take time to read reviews, then decide. Rather than buying without knowing the host’s background. This is to avoid any future problems regarding your website, which always occur. Make sure your chosen webhost will be there for you.

Smart geeks.

This afternoon I had lunch with a friend of mine at a nearby cafeteria. We did some catching up and I’ve learned that his girlfriend is about to embark into the world of baking (business.) She’s currently into the 3rd phase of her baking course (almost graduating, diploma is at hand’s reach) and actually could not wait to start her own (online) bakery. I’ve known her girlfriend for 2 years now and I was pleasantly surprised at the news, because I know how exciting it is to do something you really love and earn from it!

As we got into talking, my friend mentioned about her needs of good photos to place on her upcoming website. I said I can help her out with the photos. Also I asked him if he’s already found a reliable webhost, the answer was no. Thus I gave him this link for webhosting choices. Owning several websites the past 7 years I guess it makes me an expert in choosing one.

It’s pretty easy to buy domain name and start up a website these days. But many people do not realize that choosing the most reliable webhost is, if not the most critical part. Don’t fall victims to those who promise heaven-and-earth-kind-of-service but after you’ve paid your domain, they fall short of their promises. Question most people ask is: which webhost to trust?

Please do check the link above. And if you are in need of specific webhosting, do browse the website’s subpages. If like my friend’s girlfriend who is starting a business, I’d advise her to check out the best business hosting to find the webhost suit to her business’s needs.

Take the time in choosing webhost. Take it from me. ;)

Dog kennels.

Dogs as pets have never been so popular than ever! Thanks to many hollywood stars who paraded dogs, of all sizes, everywhere where the paparazzis are. But I must be honest, most of these hollywood have genuine love for their dogs, or so I feel. Just like ordinary people like you and me. Dogs do make a family complete, many say. Dogs give love to their masters under any circumstances, unconditional love. That’s why they also deserve to be treated with love, showered with it even. After all, unlike humans, dogs will remain faithful until the end of its life, that’s a sweet fact.

Because our dogs are considered part of the family, we take them wherever we go, if possible. Visiting other family members or on vacation, dogs are there. That is why it’s important to keep them safe during traveling. If you are bringing your dog to other places and hasn’t done this yet, I suggest you do. Place your dogs in travel kennel for their own safety. You buckle up your child when traveling, right? Responsible owners should do the same to their dogs. And I know just the e-store where you can get these , simply clikc this dog kennels for sale link and it will take you directly to a website where you can find different kennels for your dogs. If you’re looking for a kennel for inside your home, do browse the site thoroughly and you’ll surely find what you need.

Love your dogs, just the way you want to be loved in return. ;)

rise temperature…rise!

Look at that distorted face of Charlie! Pugs have generally (already) distorted faces and using fisheye lens on them makes it crazy!

I always have fun using Charlie as subject when my fisheye lens is mounted on my camera. I like capturing those big eyes, and yes even that distorted face. Fisheye lens is always fun to use especially on people and animals. Come to think of it, my pug needs a bath seriously! Well the weather is getting better, temperature is rising so he’ll soon get one.

This photo was taken yesterday after we took a walk. The weather was so nice! Unlike what we’re having today…the temperature has slightly risen and it’s raining outside too. Even Charlie didn’t want to stay outside because of the rain. He hates it when he gets wet.

I just can’t wait for the temperature to rise! I miss sunbathing in our backyard. I miss barbeque-ing outside. I just miss the sun, period. Though I wouldn’t mind NOT seeing ants and wasps they just give me the creeps, argh!

But it doesn’t matter, I can take that as long as I can enjoy the sun and do all things that I can only do when it’s shining :D

Last night, my husband and I ventured the cold temperature to go to the city for this years Christmas Market. Unfortunately we were left disappointed as our night started out with a very bad dinner in a Mediterranean grill restaurant with a turtle pacing service. For our starter we had to wait 45 minutes and when it finally came, I almost wept because it was pure garbage (I’m sorry, but this is a rant entry, have I warned you already?)

It says in the menu that for Euro11,00 (E1 =$1,66 as of this writing) you’ll get big gambas (shrimps) grilled in olive oil and special sauce. After 45 minutes it finally arrived , and on my dish, I got around 6 tiny pieces (different sizes) of shrimps in tomato sauce and a dab of olive oil. And I’ve also tasted soap in the sauce. Not a tiny squeek from me and my husband. Then another 45 minutes passed by, finally my mix-meat-grill in a skewer arrived and lo and behold, everything was raw! the tiny beef piece was bad smelling and bloody, a piece of pork was bloody (about 2 pieces of each) and loads of red onion pieces in between. This was for Euro 21,00.

My husband and I paid Euro50,00 for a horrible dinner ..already from this amount, my skewer was deducted when the waitress saw I hardly touched it, fortunately she was ashamed of what has happened and offered to deduct the price…hah! if that happened in the US I think she’d lose her head from the client’s bite! But since my husband is the calm type, never will complain…simply paid the waitress and even wished her a pleasant evening.

So can you imagine how expensive to have a lousy dinner in this part of the world.

the restaurant was masked from the outside..it has a lovely window that entices people walking pass it…but inside…
