Beautiful paintings from the Golden age (17th century) by some Dutch painters are still famous today- Rembrandt Van Rijn, Johannes Vermeer, Paulus Potter, and Albert Cuyp to name a few, were considered geniuses. 17th century paintings are still complicated to create because at that time they had to make their own paint not like now they can be bought already mixed and colored, also then they had to have photographic memory for their compositions, and their painting techniques which were truly complicated that some of their works cannot be exactly duplicated. Some of these famous paintings still surprise curators/museum people that they even find paintings behind paintings when x-rayed.
Painters mentioned above are still inspirations for today’ s painters, not just the professional but also the hobbyists. Like my father in law, who painted all the paintings below. My father in law never had any formal training but I guess he’s just truly gifted. People have offered to buy his reproduction but he’d never sell them. Some were given to friends as gifts.
I think my FIL is really good reproducing Stilleven or Still Life (unfortunately I forgot who painted what…., I shall ask my FIL tom. and edit this part)
this hangs on his wall…

Rembrandt Van Rijn’s (this hangs on his wall, I’ve included the frame on this shot)

*must phone my dad in law to ask who painted this one* …also hangs on his wall

and this hangs on my wall….parang babasagin talaga yung decanter at may reflection

and this hangs also on my wall… isa sa paborito ko ito… nakikita nyo yung reflection sa decanter?

I blogged about this one before and someone said the original hangs on a museum wall somewhere in the United States, I’m just not sure if it’s true.

Rembrandt Van Rijn ‘ Self Portrait at 20′...hangs on FIL’s wall

2 years ago I requested that he once again paint Johannes Vermeer’s ‘The Girl With A Pearl Earring’ , unfortunately it’s unfinished and remains in this state because he can no longer hold his brush. Naponood nyo ba ang film na The Girl With A Pearl Earring’ with Scarlett Johansson?
