I celebrated my 40th birthday just last Saturday, about six weeks after my actual birthday. Reason was we were on vacation and I was with my family in Asia, thus it was also celebrated here in The Netherlands with just close friends. Once again I did all the cooking and boy, was I pretty beat after two days of preparation. Yes, you read it right, two days. I didn’t mind though because I love to cook and having a food blog is the proof. I may not cook like a chef but I cook with passion.
Having the exact cookware in the kitchen for me is important. Certainly when friends are coming over, I always spend extra time in my kitchen to prepare the food. In my menu were 4 of my specialties. One which calls for using cast iron casserole dish by Le Creuset Cookware . I had to use a cast iron since I wanted to make sure that the pork belly (marinated in soya sauce and lemon) slowly cooks evenly that when you take a bite in your mouth, meat will simply melt. After browning the meat over medium heat, in the casserole and in the oven, I slowly cooked it for another 1 1/2 hours. Resulted to melting-in-your-mouth meat! My guests were really satisfied and had a wonderful dinner! I tell you, I am happy with my cookware and kitchen utensils because unlike in the past, it was a bit frustrating when I can’t properly do preparations and cooking by not having the needed kitchen help. But now, the kitchen is my favorite area in my house. Luckily I have (almost) everything that I need and cooking is just as fun as it can be!

I do agree: Kitchen is the best and most important room in the house. My fave is to make dinner during the weekend together with my wife or with the guests if I am in that mood.
Wishing you a wonderful end to your week
