Remember Alf? That talkative, obnoxious (at times), funny, lovable alien who was adopted by a loving family, accepted him as one of them?
I remember back in the 80’s, my siblings and I were allowed in the evening to watch him before we call it a night. As kids, we’d usually fight for the remote control for tv programs but when it comes to Alf, we were in harmony. Ah those were the days! ‘Wish I was a child again whose only concern is when to eat, play, watch tv and sleep!
My husband’s got this tiny Alf toy which he forgot about and I found it clipped on the curtain in his office. I just thought I’d play with it using my lens baby and +4 macro lens…it was fun looking at Alf via the viewfinder. Made me smile and recall those crazy tv program days we enjoyed!
We live in such a fast paced world. ‘An eye for an eye’ or ‘the strongest wins and survives’ , that’s what we usually say in situations when we need to face battles to survive. Living isn’t easy, and yes the strongest do win. But what about the weak ones? What happens to them? Don’t they, at times lose their sanity when they feel that they can no longer fight what life’s throwing at them? Don’t some of them chose to end their suffering by taking their own life? According to World Health Organization, there are about 100,000 people who commit suicide each year, the highest being in Lithuania where counseling for these troubled people are least or almost none in existence.
But countries that are thriving like the United States there are numerous help possible to get -are considered lucky in this aspect. Our weekend was busy. On Saturday, my husband and I went to the next city to shop for few personal needed items, did our weekly grocery but before that, we worked (office stuff) a bit in the morning too. Sunday, we had to tend our garden infested by snails and slugs. All plants that we both several weeks ago had died so we, rather my husband (who did most of the garden work) had to pull out all the roots, weeds and also chopped over-growing stalks. I did the wash, cleaned the house, cut my father-in-law’s hair and cook a simple meal for us.
Both my husband and dad-in-law love spicy food so I made a simple Thai combination of Pad Thai, chicken satay and made my own sauce. If you’ll be interested for the recipes, here they are: pad thai recipe, chicken satay recipe and peanut satay sauce recipe.
My Pad Thai yesterday was a quick fix, but if you’ll click the recipe link above you’ll find a better version.

I hope you like them too.
Have a great week ahead, dear WS’ers!
