Pasado sana! (LP 110: Pagsusulit)

Sariwang sariwa kumbaga itong entry ko para sa LP theme ngayong Huwebes. Pagsusulit. Kakauwi ko lang ng bahay mula sa isang pagsusulit. Ito ay para sa integration. Ayaw ko kasing i give up ang pasaporte ko bilang Pinoy kaya lang ay kailangan ko na talagang gawin ito dahil sayang naman ang ipinupundar naming mag-asawa dito….sabi nga ng aking esposo, kailangan kong gawin ito dahil kung may mangyari man sa kanya ( knock on wood, tok tok) ay hindi ako magkakaproblema kung iba na ang pasaporte ko. Kaya makaraan ang halos 5 taon na kakapush nya na kumuha na ako ng eksamen, ano pa nga, eh di bumigay ang lola nyo.
Nagulat ang aking tiyahin na naninirahan sa Amerika ng malaman na mahirap ang sistema dito sa Holland para lang makakuha ng local passport. Sa America ang resulta ng integration exam ay malalaman madalas sa araw din ng pagsusulit, at ilang linggo lang ay swearing in na at kuha na ang bagong pasaporte. Dito ay hindi ganyan kadali. Unang una ay kailangan mong magsalita at magsulat sa local language. Kailangan mo patunayan na kaya mong mamuhay dito, nakaya mong gampanan ang lahat bilang isang dutch citizen. Ang pagsusulit dito ay may 4 na parte. 1. Electronic (basic knowledge) 2. Listening and Speaking. 3. Dutch knowldege (history, politics..etc) 4. Idi-depensa mo ang 20 assignments na ipapagawa sa iyo and writing. Ang mga assignments na ito kinakailangan mong magpunta sa police station, banko, munisipyo, na marunong kang mag-apply ng trabaho..at marami pang iba. Maraming foreigners ang ayaw gawin ito dahil nahihirapan sila. Marami ding bumabagsak sa 4 na pagsusulit na ito. Naipasa ko ang 1,2,3, at ang dutch coach ko at ex-teacher ay kumpiyansa na pati 4th ay walang problema.
Itong pang apat ang pagsusulit na ginawa ko kanina. Okay naman, nakakatuwa dahil former teacher ko ang examinator (nagbigay ng exam). Tawa kami ng tawa dahil sa nerbyos ko, uber daldal ko 
Pero sabi ng ex-teacher ko ay December of last year ay alam na nyang hindi daw ako mahihirapan dahil mataas ang level ko….(tumira ka ba naman dito ng mahigit 10 taon eh dapat talaga advance na level, di ba?) Pero hangga’t hindi ko hawak ang resulta sa mga kamay ko na nagsasabing pumasa ako ay hindi ako mapapakali. Konti lang. Baka kasi hindi pa ako makatulog nyan.

In The Netherlands, euthanasia is allowed. Same sex marriage is allowed. Weeds in cafes are sold. Street ‘performers’ are allowed. Criminals roam free, no I kid you not (this latter remark might get me into trouble with my Dutch friends..but you know that my opinion is not baseless)
But I tell you, there still are Dutch people who have decency who are appropriate. Such are these 3 young women! I love love love the smiles on their faces while having conversation with him. I knew they wanted to. But they couldn’t! Kudos to their mums and dads! 
Dodenherdenking

May 4 is the Nationale Dodenherdenking (Remembrance of the Dead / Remembering the dead) in Netherlands. Today the living give their time to think of all those who have fallen to the Germans during World War II. Tonight at 8pm, there will be a 2 minutes silence that will be offered to the victims. Both public and private transports will stop on their tracks, people inside their homes will be silent, some will offer prayers.
I guess the most celebrated victim of them all was Anne Frank (1924-1945.) The Jewish teenager who wrote her journal while hiding with her family in an attic in Amsterdam. Anne lost her German nationality in 1941 due to the anti-Semitic policies of Nazi Germany. She and her family fled to Netherlands and there stayed until found in the attic by German soldiers.
I have been in the Anne Frank Huis (museum) in Amsterdam way back in 2004. It was the same house where Anne’s family went to hiding. No cameras were allowed inside but I managed to take this shot, of the bookcase (replica) that covered the entrance to the secret annexe.
In Netherlands alone, 8,729,000 fell victim to the war, about 104,000 of them were Jews. In the whole of Europe estimated death is from 6million -7 million.
As you can see I didn’t used on my title the word ‘National’ because my post isn’t just about the victims in Holland. I am remembering the others who in my opinion are also victims. They are the german soldiers who followed Hitler’s order until the end. Those german soldiers who believed Hitler will bring Germany to its greatness, to a full glory. I am remembering especially the young german soldiers, some were still boys who I’m sure would have had a better chance in life had the many attempts on Hitler’s life succeeded before 1945.
The following photos were taken in Balogna Belgium. We rode in the area and on the way spotted this rather lonely cemetary. Coming closer, there I found out that it wasn’t a cemetery for heroes but rather for fallen german soldiers, both known names and the unknown were buried here.
the first cross in front bears 3 soldiers: ‘ein Deutscher soldat’ followed by 2 names which means some of them were unidentified and perhaps their families to this day are still bearing their loss too.

Have you ever seen elephant this colorful? And this white?!
There were a bunch of them in the streets of Amsterdam last year. In the midst of old buildings they kind of oop (out of place) BUT they were fun to look at. The artist’s plan worked as people would stop on their tracks just to take photos of them

This photo was taken a few months back. When my husband took an afternoon off and inivted me for a lunch.
It was a nice surprise, really. Since I seldom get my husband off his work. Workaholic, yeah he is.

I sometimes wish we have a second pug, a female this time. It would be nice to have little Charlies (or Charlottes) running around the house. I’m pretty sure Charlie will be a good, loving and caring dad.
BUT we can’t afford a second dog. Let alone a litter. Because dog owners in Holland pay dog tax of almost €100.00/year. Can you imagine that? Vet trips, food, dog snack, toys..whew, it’s like having a child!
Thus Charlie, still is the most sought bachelor in the hood.
