The small city where we live is known to be the oldest city in Holland. I live here for almost 10 years now but I’ve learned about something extraordinary only lately. That I walk on the very same streets where Vincent Van Gogh walked on. What you see below, though not the original building but exactly where the bookstore Blussé en Van Braam [boek handel] used to stand was where Vincent Van Gogh worked as an assistant.
At the left side of this building, the city government placed a stone that says:
in this street lived Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) January - May 1877
It’s crazy how ignorant I was of the city’s history because back in the mid 90’s, the building next to this was where I used to work!
Yep, Vincent was my neighbor!

Vincent Van Gogh — my and my sister’s favorite artist. I was able to visit the Van Gogh Museum in Amesterdam way back 1999 (I bought some prints). A really memorable experience.
Did you know that he was a Christian?
